Fans of the current and past editions of the Jeep Wrangler love it for many reasons: its durability, solid handling, and iconic styling, to name a few. However, with rising gas prices, drivers have a soft spot for fuel economy, as well, which is why engineers and designers at the American automaker are working hard to maintain everything that we've grown to love about the SUV while improving its gas mileage.
The first step in making the new Wrangler more fuel efficient is to give drivers the option of either a new diesel powertrain or a fuel-saving 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine. This helps, but this model is 1,000 lbs. heavier than any other vehicle in the brand's new lineup, so additional measures have to be taken as well.
The next step is to make the Wrangler more aerodynamic, but with the added challenge of maintaining the rugged styling for which the vehicle is known. Tricks to help accomplish this goal include rounding off the A-pillars and removing certain exterior parts. The next Wrangler is set to debut as a 2015 model, so we should have it here at Lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Roseburg sometime next year. When we hear more information about it, we'll share it with our readers here on our blog.
In the meantime, we invite you to visit our 1600 NE Airport Rd (DA8849) Roseburg, OR 97470 location to get a feel for what the Jeep brand is all about.
