Here at Lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Roseburg, we have always valued the way Chrysler remains dedicated to keeping the new Chrysler lineup stocked with models sporting latest innovations. To maintain this goal, the automaker announced earlier this month it is planning to boost the production of one particular powertrain.
The engine plants scheduled to experience the growth are in Dundee and Trenton, Michigan. With an investment totaling $53 million, nearly 300 new jobs will be added. This will help to successfully expand the production of TigerShark engines. The popularity of models that carry this powertrain like the Dodge Dart, and the beginning of production for the new Jeep Cherokee, has led to an increase in demand for the engine.
An investment will be made to the Trenton North facility, to not only enable the production of the Tigershark engine, but to maintain the production of parts for the Pentastar V6. This engine can be found in some of our favorite models like the Chrysler 300.
As for the engine plant in Dundee, the investment will go towards bringing the proper machinery to the facility for a Tigershark parts production line. It will manufacture the cranks, heads and blocks for the engines, which will then be shipped to other plants for assembly. The lines at both facilities are scheduled to be fully operational before the end of September.
