Coming out on top in the Best-In-Class Sporty Car Segment was one of our favorites, the Dodge Challenger. This was the model's first VSA, and it joined two other Chrysler models that also earned recognitions in their segments. To select the recipients of these awards, each model is evaluated by 51 different attributes that cover fuel economy, performance, interior comfort, technology and a variety of other factors. A total of 52,000 new vehicle owners participated in this year's survey to share their opinions.
The attributes that made the Dodge Challenger stand out amongst competitors include it's incredible performance. It sports an award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine that can crank out 305 horsepower. What's even more impressive is that it gets 27 miles per gallon on the highway. Adding to its power and efficiency, it also offers a spacious interior that can comfortably accommodate five passengers.
If more power is what you are looking for, the Challenger R/T trim offers a standard HEMI V8 which generates an impressive 375 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. Even with this boost it is still able to achieve 25 mpg on the highway.
