Whether it's for work or play, sometimes you need to take a trip off the smooth convenience of paved roads.  Either way, you could be putting your vehicle's 4x4 system to the ultimate test, and it's important to understand what its capabilities are before you head off the beaten path.  There's no better time for a thrilling off-road adventure than summer, which is why we'd like to take a moment to share some ideas with our Lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Roseburg blog readers about what you should pack to be prepared for the worst.

Often, certain conditions can either change the air pressure in your tires, or even worse, puncture them.  To be prepared for either situation, we'd recommend always keeping a spare tire in the vehicle as well as a portable air compressor to either lower or raise the air pressure on the fly.  Be sure to refresh your memory about how to change a tire, too; you don't want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere with a flat tire and no knowledge about how to fix it!

Don't forget a tow rope, either.  You never know what you'll encounter out there.

And of course, remember to bring a first aid kit, maps, and a mobile phone.  You want to stay safe and make sure you can find your way back to civilization at the end of the day, don't you?

If you have any questions about the capabilities of your new vehicle, don't hesitate to get in touch with a member of our team.  It's important to understand what you can and can't do in your car, and we're here to make sure that you get the most out of your driving experience.
